Household Ready Kit

Enter who lives with you, pick how many days to cover, and get a shopping list with quantities and estimated Costco and Amazon prices. Pick a store for each item, tick the ones you want, and send your selection to WhatsApp. Build it over a few trips; there is no need to buy it all at once.

Build it calmly

  • Buy food your household already eats, then use and replace it (oldest first).
  • Spread purchases over several weeks. Panic buying empties shelves for neighbors.
  • Store in a cool, dry, dark spot. Label bins with the date you packed them.
  • Check dates and batteries every 6 months. Daylight saving weekends are an easy reminder.
  • Agree on two meeting places and one out-of-area contact everyone can call or text.

Safety first

  • Never run a generator, grill, charcoal or outdoor stove inside a home or garage. Carbon monoxide kills quickly.
  • Install a battery carbon monoxide alarm if you'll use anything that burns fuel.
  • Water treatment with bleach: plain unscented 6% bleach, 8 drops per gallon, stir, wait 30 minutes. Follow EPA or Ready.gov directions.
  • Ask your doctor or pharmacist about extra prescription supply. Give medicines by the label.
